Mike's Musings

What a wonderful organization! Bridging two centuries, the Arizona Rangers have quite a pedigree.

Descending from the Territorial Arizona Rangers with their short (7 1/2 years) but brilliant existence... tough, dedicated law men who cleaned up the territory, so it could go on to become the 48th star in the American flag.

Reestablished in 1957 by some surviving Arizona Rangers (old coots by that time!) a new era began. No longer law enforcement officers, our men and women became a resource to our law enforcement agencies, our schools, and some private organizations.

As time went by, the Arizona Rangers evolved. As law enforcement agencies utilized us more frequently, our missions changed, requiring specialized training, and even changes in the weaponry we employ. The uniform evolved as well, taking on a distinct, police-like appearance.

September 11, 2001 changed the entire world. The Arizona Rangers did not escape the new realities, and have had to modify many missions and acquire new training.

Today, we need to decide on how we evolve into the future. We can blow in the wind, allowing each new breeze to influence our course... or, we can be proactive, do some deep soul-searching, and then, in conjunction with the appropriate governmental and civilian agencies, establish plans that are foreward thinking and flexible.

I opt for the latter.

I ask for your support as State Adjutant. As a member of the Board of Directors, I will offer a foreward-thinking, technologically oriented, and energetic influence. I am extremely hard working, having averaged over 100 duty hours per month since I joined the Arizona Rangers, in 1999.

For the betterment of the organization, I ask for your vote. I look forward to serving as Adjutant. seeing it as a huge challenge, lots of fun, and good for the organization.

Candidate for Adjutant (2007-2009)
Captain Mike Dennis
Sierra Vista Company

My fellow Rangers,

I’d like to introduce myself to you. Because of the long distances involved, and our conflicting duty schedules, many of you do not know me. Yet, I have been a very active Arizona Ranger, in my own Company, and at State levels.

I have been asked to run for the office of State Adjutant. I accept the challenge.

I am qualified for the position, and have specific goals to further the Arizona Rangers.

Served six terms as Commander of the Sierra Vista Company, doubling its size, and established “model” relations with City and County law enforcement agencies, other governmental departments, and school districts. Additional duties were Law Enforcement Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer.

Created the Douglas Company, and co-founded the Coronado Company.

Currently involved in re-establishing the Benson Company.

I have recruited over 100 Arizona Rangers!

The Adjutant is the “right arm” of the State Commander, overseeing critical projects, and serves in the Commander’s absence. In the following paragraphs, I will share with you some of the additional objectives that I intend to accomplish:

1. Personally prioritize creation of a state-wide Arizona Rangers Database

Supervise Complete Overhaul of Governing Documents
By-Laws
Rules & Regulations
Policies & Procedures
Miscellaneous Other Documents

Present Revised Documents to Membership for Approval

Streamline All “State” meetings: more efficient and shorter in duration.
All Meetings will be “Agenda Driven,” assuring that all items are covered completely, and in order.

Electronic Agendas will be composed on Microsoft PowerPoint, and, when available, an overhead projector will be used to allow all participants to follow the agenda.
Emphasize Roberts Rules of Order are respected

Coordinate activities for legislative relief

Reversal of DPS Cease and Desist Order

Seek Full Exemption from Security Guard Statutes

Detailed Plan
Programmed Briefings for State Legislators
Endorsements from Mayors, Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs

Streamline Communications from Command to Ranger levels
Respect and Utilize CHAIN OF COMMAND
Use Available Communications Technology
Go-To-Meetings.com and/or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) for most meetings/coordination
Secure Email
Web Site is the Primary Means of Communications

Electronic Voting for 2008
Study market for E-voting products
“Test Drive” available products
Conduct a Test Ballot prior to 2008 General Election

These are a limited listing of some ideas that I have. However, I am energetic, innovative, and loyal. If I am elected as your State Adjutant I will do everything in my power to improve the legal, political, and operational condition of the Arizona Rangers.

Please support me by voting “YES” for Captain Mike Dennis for State Adjutant
